Chris Nelson, co-founder of Nelson’s Heating and Cooling, began in the HVAC industry shortly after graduating from Lafayette High School, right here in Williamsburg, VA. In his last two years at Lafayette, Chris spent two years in vocational school learning the HVAC trade. He spent 10 years working for an HVAC company in both residential and commercial heating and cooling after his graduation. After a slow start in 2004, Nelsons Heating and Cooling began to grow steadily in 2005 and Chris started working in the business full time.

Born at Riverside Hospital in Newport News, VA Chris spent two years in Smithfield as a baby before his family moved to Toano, VA. Chris spent his childhood in Toano, playing school sports and dreaming of one day becoming a professional baseball player. With a passion for the sport, Chris has long been a fan of the Baltimore Orioles.

He comes from a family with long-time ties to the community with his father working at the Newport News Ship Yard for over 40 years, starting at the ripe age of 17. He and his brothers, Dan and Steven, grew up with a very close relationship and all three brothers work together today. Chris’s mother was a stay-at-home mom in his early childhood before going to work in the cafeteria at Stonehouse Elementary as the boys got older.

With nine members of the Nelson’s team, Chris now has some time to himself and enjoys hunting, fishing, golfing and playing softball with the Nelsons Heating and Cooling company softball team. Growing up in what was once a more rural Toano, Chris loves to listen to country music. If you’ve ever met Chris, you’d know instantly that he has a heart of gold and is just a fun guy to be around. There isn’t much that will come out of his mouth that won’t make you laugh, but when it comes to business, he can be serious as well. With a passion for his work, Chris believes that all of the Nelson’s customers become a part of their family. Their hometown approach to service has given them a reputation that not many HVAC companies in Williamsburg have earned in such a short period of time.

If you’re looking for a more personal service experience for your heating and cooling needs, be sure to call and talk to one of the Nelson brothers. It may be the first time you actually enjoy calling a service technician to work at your home.
